Где проводить вечность
Червячок Игнатий и слизнячок Лямба однажды остановились возле пустой улиточной раковины.
– Жалко, что мы умираем, – вздохнул червячок Игнатий. – Хорошо бы жить вечно.
– Так мы и живём вечно, – сказал Лямба. – Просто перейдём когда-нибудь из этой жизни в другую. Вот улитка и перешла. Наверное, ей там лучше, чем в раковине.
– Да, – согласился червячок Игнатий. – В раковине ещё ничего, а вот вокруг много всякой ерунды творится. Если впереди вечность, то правильнее там её проводить, чем здесь.
– Только ведь к ней подготовиться надо, – добавил Лямба. – А вот для подготовки здесь очень удачное место.
Where to Spend Eternity
Ignatius, the worm and Lyamba, the slug were slithering along together when they passed by an empty snail shell.
«It’s too bad that we have to die some day,» sighed Ignatius. «It would be nice to live forever».
«But we will live forever,» said Lyamba.
«Someday, we will just move on from this life to a new one. This snail has already gone. It is probably better for her in eternity than in this little shell».
«Yes,» agreed Ignatius. «I guess that I wouldn’t be so bad to stay inside our shells, but we’re stuck out here, exposed to whatever the world has to throw at us! If eternity is ahead, then it is better to spend it there rather than here».
«Right! But you have to get ready for it,» added Lyamba. «And this is just the right place to prepare».
Комната для неба
Когда Лоур строил себе дом, он сделал там особую комнату: без потолка и крыши, с земляным полом.
– Что за странная комната? – удивлялись гости.
– Это для неба, – объяснял Лоур. – Зайдите к нему, пообщайтесь. Оно дверь не запирает.
И если кто заходил туда, то проводил там немалое время и возвращался совсем другим. Не зря Лоур считал, что это лучшая комната в доме.
A Room for Heaven
When Leroy was building a home for himself, he decided to make a special room – a room without a ceiling and only the ground for the floor.
Whenever he had guests over, they often wondered aloud, «What is this room?»
«It is a room for heaven,» explained Leroy. «Any time you go in, you can communicate with heaven. Heaven never closes the door».
Whenever anyone went into the room, they always ended up staying for a long time, and they always returned completely changed. It’s no wonder that Leroy considered it the best room in the house!
