The Little Bear enjoyed all but swimming. To be honest, it was because he was afraid of swimming.

«I am a bear, am I not?» he used to say. «Swimming is for fish but I am not going to do that.»

The Little Bear stayed away from water. Even to wash him his mother had to bring some water in her paws.

Once mother bear told him «It’s high time you stopped being afraid of water!»

«I am not afraid of water! The thing is that I do not want to swim.» The Little Bear protested. As time passed, however, the fear grew stronger.

For other bears to dive and swim was pure joy. They came out to the shore shaking off water and splashing it around themselves. The Little Bear could not understand why they were so happy but he wanted to. That is why once he decided to approach the ocean.

When the Little Bear came up so close that he could see the underwater world his heart missed a beat. He could have been staring into the water for long but suddenly noise attracted him. Other bears were sliding from the hill and laughing of excitement.

He turned to them hoping they would stop somehow but it was too late for that and the Little Bear fell into the sea together with other bears.

The Little Bear wanted to scream «I can’t believe it! I am in the water! Help me! What should I do?» but he could not.

Looking around he saw that other bears moved their paws. He started to do the same and suddenly he swam. As this happened our Little Bear calmed down, he swam up, took a deep breath and dove again.

«All this is so beautiful!» he exclaimed. «How could have I been afraid of it?»

When he returned to the shore, he shook off water as other bears did and suddenly felt very happy. He could not believe that it was so easy. That was how he understood he could fight every fear he had.
