I heard a knocking noise to my right, the sound of people working. Turning my head as much as I could, I saw they had built a stage about four yards from my ear. It was about a foot and a half from the ground with ladders up to it. It held four people, one of whom cried out, “Langro dehul san!” Immediately about fifty people came over to me and cut the strings that held the left side of my head.
I could then turn and see the person speaking (после этого я смог повернутся и увидеть говорящего; person – человек; личность, особа).
