We know that even nowadays the role of a monarch is great. What can you tell us about the role of a queen in British life?

Ученик: The present Sovereign of the UK is Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is the symbol of Britain.

As the Head of the state, the Queen is informed and consulted on every aspect of national life. She is the centre of much of the nation’s ceremonial and, by ancient tradition, the leader of the society. Royal duties include visiting many parts of the UK each year to encourage scientific, industrial, artistic and charitable works of national importance.

Laws are not laws until they have received the Royal Assent. The Queen is the head of the Church of England.

She is Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces. She makes treaties and declares war and peace.

Учитель: Let’s remember the kings and queens who contributed much to the process of development of democracy. Now we’ll play a game «Who it is?»
